Nylon: most popular synthetic fiber, long lasting and beautiful
Advantages: very easy to clean as it is soil and stain resistant. New fiber technologies have made nylon able to withstand heavy foot traffic. Nylon is also often made from recycled materials, which makes it environmentally friendly, and it is also very soft.
Disadvantages: is only semi flame resistant and can attract soil
Polyester: soft and brilliantly colorful rugs
Advantages: available in many bright colors and known for luxurious and soft feel. Resistant to stains. Another green, eco-friendly option since some polyester rugs are made from recycled plastic bottles.
Disadvantages: tends to attract oil and soil
Olefin: feels like wool, colorfast
Advantages: is versatile for many rooms since it will not grow mildew, fuzz or pill and will resist stains. Often combined with other fabric types.
Disadvantages: does not possess good resiliency and is not suitable for high traffic areas
